Warren was raised in central Minnesota, wintering in Wadena and spending summers at his parent’s lake home in Aitkin. He attended the University of Minnesota, first for his Bachelor of Science degree and then his doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After two years in the United States Army Veterinary Corps, Warren returned to Wadena where he helped his father with his harness horses.
Warren proved to be a very talented veterinarian who was also an accomplished musician (he attended McPhail School of Music). In addition, he was an outstanding Wadena community leader.
Warren held leadership positions on the Wadena Chamber of Commerce, the Wadena Area Concert Association, the Wadena Area United Way, Minnesota Harness Racing, Inc., the Central Minnesota Boy Scout Council, and the Wadena School Board. He was a member of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, served on the Dean’s Advisory Council at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota, and worked with community music groups.
Warren’s service didn’t end with his death. He donated his eyes to medical research to help future generations.
